Upon joining an online dating service you may be overwhelmed with all of the members who are in the same shoes as you. Some people go into online dating thinking that they will never find anybody, just to learn that they have more opportunity than ever before. In this case, it is important to be as selective as possible. No, you don’t want to turn away anybody who may be a great date, but at the same time there are only so many hours in a day.
The selectivity process should begin with location. Most people using online dating sites only search for members in their area. How far is too far? This is up to you. Some people do not mind connecting with members from the other side of the country. On the other hand, many only want to speak with those who are within driving distance. You need to decide how to narrow down your choices based on location.
Your online dating service will also give you the ability to search for members based on many other factors including age, sex, race, etc. All of these factors will help you weed out those who do not suit your personality, and in turn find members who may be a good match.
If you are going to be selective make sure you do not take this too far. By doing this you may find that there are not too many members who meet your “exact specifications.” There is nothing wrong with being selective as long as you also keep an open mind.
